Encouraged by his club racing father Bob, Will started in karts at age 6. His first racecar was a Datsun 1200 which he ran around his home state of Queensland, Australia. From ’99 through ’01, Power ran a family-backed Formula Ford before graduating to Australian Formula Holden in ’02 and taking the series title by winning seven of the 12 races. He also was second in the Australian F3 championship that year before unsuccessfully trying European F3 the next two seasons. Crossed the pond in ’05 to drive for Team Australia in CART. Moved to Penske Racing in ’09, winning at Edmonton. For the next three seasons, Power scored 14 victories on the way to three consecutive runner-up championship finishes. In each of those seasons, Power won the Mario Andretti Road Course Trophy.
