Paul Gentilozzi
Paul Gentilozzi’s motorsports career has spanned more than 48 years, as a driver, team owner, race promoter, and series owner for both Trans-Am and Champ Car. Paul has progressed from sportsman drag racing to NHRA Pro Stock to IMSA GTS and Trans-Am road racing, as a driver and team owner. With a serious bent for engineering, he formed Rocketsports, Inc. in 1985 to design, build and develop road racing cars and engines with an emphasis on Trans-Am, a series he bought from the SCCA to rebuild its image. During his Trans-Am driving career, he won a record 33 races in a total of 207 starts, including 68 podium finishes. He holds Trans-Am career records for driver championships, race victories, prize money, fastest race laps, pole positions, top-fives, top-10s and lead-lap finishes. Gentilozzi also scored 11 IMSA victories with two class wins and one overall victory in the 24 Hours of Daytona. In addition, his teams have captured eight Trans-Am driver championships, two IMSA Championship[s and 16 manuvacturer’s titles for Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, Ford and Jaguar. Gentilozzi’s teams had three Champ Car victories with Rocketsports and RSRSports. Paul partnered with his sons Tony and John to form 3GT Racing in 2015 to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship to race a Lexus RC F GT3. With a business degree from Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, Gentilozzi enjoyed great success as a commercial real estate developer in the Midwest and as a collision center repair shop owner.
