A. J. Allmendinger
Most recently in the Phoenix Racing NASCAR stable, AJ Allmendinger has shown skill and versatility from the moment he first slipped into a quarter-midget. He soon graduated to karts where he captured two IKF Championships. At 20, AJ ran a few races over the winter in the New Zealand Formula Ford Series, then finished out the 2002 season in the Barber-Dodge Pro Series, winning the championship. The next year Allmendinger drove a Formula Atlantic car for RuSport, winning seven of 12 races and dominating the championship. In 2004, RuSport joined the Champ Car World Series with its new driver taking Rookie-of-the-Year honors. Despite eight podium finishes with RuSport, Allmendinger did not score a victory until joining Forsythe a third of the way into the 2006 season. He then proceeded to win five of the final nine races of the season, all on road courses. He is still looking for his first Sprint Cup victory. He scored a victory in the 2012 Daytona 24 for Mike Shank and was third in 2013.
