After an early stint in the U.S. Army where he was a nuclear weapons specialist, the Orlando native earned a bachelor’s degree in 1975 from the University of Central Florida. Later in California, Brockman was Road Test Editor for Motor Trend Magazine and worked as an actor and stuntman in Hollywood. There he became friends with Paul Newman, turning to professional racing in 1979. He competed in a number of major events, including the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of LeMans. Brockman acquired Mazda of Milford after moving to Connecticut. He passed away in Oct. 2019 at age 74.
