SAFEisFAST – WEC CHAMP BRANDON HARTLEY LATEST ASK A PRO + La Gala Seca Invitation

Brendon Hartley, FIA World Endurance Championship winner and ex-F1 test driver, is the latest online driving instructor for SAFEisFAST.com.

The 27-year-old races in WEC for the Porsche LMP1 team, winning the series for the German marque in 2015. Hartley is a product of Red Bull’s young driver academy.

After excelling in the junior ranks back home in New Zealand, Hartley moved to Europe in 2006, entering the Formula Renault NEC and Formula Renault Eurocup series’ aged 16. Hartley finished 10th and 13th respectively in his first season, before winning the Eurocup the following year.

Hartley eventually became F1 test and reserve driver for Scuderia Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing and Mercedes, before switching his focus exclusively to competing for Porsche ahead of the 2014 WEC season.

Racing alongside mentor Mark Webber, Hartley finished ninth with one win in 2014, before winning the 2015 title with Webber and fellow co-driver Timo Bernhard. The trio finished third in 2016, and in 2017 Hartley will drive alongside Bernhard and fellow countryman Earl Bamber, including in this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours.
